South Africa is anticipating a new reality show – “Porn Star.” Apparently, television audiences nationwide are ready to search for the country’s next big porn star. According to The Citizen, those responsible for the production of the show at Tongelong Productions have already thought of any concerns about HIV and STIs. Not only will condoms be worn at all times, but each contestant will be required to demonstrate that they are HIV and STI free. Prizes include a contract guaranteeing work for a year, money, and a role in Hustler’s end of year film.

The show may come as a surprise to conservative viewers in the country, especially given the scrapping of DSTV's proposed adult channel last year. Clearly, producers of Porn Star are confident that South Africans, bored with the endless predictability of Idols and the monotony of Big Brother, are ready for a talent show of a different kind.
