Child mortality shock

By The New Age Some 879 children under the age of five died in KZN hospitals in the first three months of this year. Statistics released by the department of health in the legislature yesterday showed that between January and March, Prince Mshiyeni Hospital in Umlazi had 57 infant mortalities, the highest in the province.

Nurses must help reduce infant mortality rates

By The New Age The MEC for health, Sibongiseni Dhlomo says nurses have a pivotal role in ensuring that the maternal mortality ratio in KZN is reduced. Dlomo also said that South Africa had actually deteriorated in terms of reducing maternal mortality.
